(Thank you to Laurakim, a member who doesn't even celebrate Thanksgiving (because she is from South Africa!) for inspiring this discussion. Your blog post on "Things I am Grateful For" made me so happy, I wanted the trend to carry though the whole community!)
Imagine if all of us made it a goal to share 5 things each day that brought us joy, what a list of gratitude we would have compiled by the end of the month!
Can't wait to read what everyone shares each day...
1). A 4am text from the man I love that read, "I am thinking of you right at this very moment."
2). Time alone for some reading/praying before Lucca woke up
3). A rainy, but warm walk in the gorgeous fall leaves with my sister
4). Almond Milk & Spinach Smoothie-- mmmm raw foods make me feel good ;)
5). Getting to make dinner for Clare and Colby tonight
1). Electricity ( my house was nice and warm when I woke up )
2). My friends who are always there for me
3). That I got to sleep in till 9:00
4). Our quad and dirt bike ( we're going riding today )
5). For this discussion ( this is awesome )
1. My awesome awesome friends! Who spent the day with me drinking cheap wine and talking nonsense!
2. My mom - who joined us today after the cheap wine had hit us all and we were really talking nonsense! She gave us an "Its great to be South African" speech inspired by Obama!
3. Braais (or barbeques) - they are such no mess no fuss meals!
4. For the weather - even tho its rainy and miserable its still very cool
5. For my evening cup of tea
6. And lastly just for LIFE! For simple being here in the moment right now! Its pretty awesome!
Today I am grateful for:
1) my sons health. I woke up crying in the middle of the night because I had dreamt he had died. The worst kind of nightmare.
2)iheart! I met my an amazing man through this site, who has filled my life with so much happiness. Iheart you Clif!
3)fireplaces...there's nothing like a toasty fire on a crisp fall night.
4)the innocence of my son. He and Clifs sons named their Guitar Hero band C-men because both of their names start with C. Hilarious!
5)that I got to meet Clifs family last night. It was a wonderful evening and they are all soooo kind.
1. Life (I, like Steve, didn't always have the will to have one)
2. My daughter (the most beautiful, spectacular, amazing gift/miracle from above that I have ever received...hands down)
3. My most wonderful boyfriend (who spoils the heck out of me and is such a wonderful man)
4. My job (my boss is awesome and I have stability even in this terrible economy)
5. My car (that runs like a champ, because it's a HONDA)
6. iHeart (had to add a sixth one, it totally ROCKS!!!!!!!)
- 2 sons that serenaded me all day with random outbreaks of "so happy together"
- how our family pulls together to do tasks and accomplish out goals, even if only to try and get the laundry done, house cleaned, Halloween stuff put away, etc. so we can try to have an organized week - laughing & joking all the way
- friends that love my children equally to how much they love me, and support us all in the ways that matter
- clients that send me a "thanks for the help" note on the weekend, recognizing that I truly want them to succeed and so did go a bit above & beyond where our contract calls for
- a job sufficient to meet our needs, and to allow me to pay for repairs to this house.
What a great thread...thank you for the reminder of how very blessed we all are in ways that matter.
1). Listening to a 92 year old brilliant and hillarious woman tell us the story of her life and her faith
2). Singing load (out of tune) and happy all morning
3). Taking a glorious 3 hour nap with Lucca
4). Sharing left over Ben & Jerry's "Imagine Whirled Peace" Ice-cream (thank you Ms. Clare!) with my son
5). Talking to my love in Kentucky about seeing him in 2 days!!!
1). Hot water ( I love my morning showers )
2). Our health ( we rarely even catch a cold )
3). Those few moments in the morning cuddling Am before starting our day
4). My car ( thats warming up as I type )
5). Cameras ( I was just looking around and realized how many awesome memories I have hanging around the house )
My body - The legs & arms & everything all work really well! Wow - what a wonderful machine to guide around this world. My kids - God let me take stewardship of 5 bright young souls. What a serious responsibility, but what incredible joy results from it. May I someday be even one-half the father I'm capable of being. That would, I think, be enough. Freedom - Bombs don't go off in my neighborhood. I'm not afraid of the sound of gunshots. I choose where I work and where I play, and I even get to badmouth my own government without any fear of retribution. God bless America. The goodness of people - In my society it's polite to smile at strangers as you pass. Co-workers greet me when I arrive. If my kid gets lost, it's almost a certainty that someone will help him. People took the time to create and maintain this site as a gift to others. Mankind is innately Good and I appreciate that very much. The Internet - I can learn anything I want to learn, hear anything I want to hear, and communicate with literally millions of people at the speed of light. Wow. 20 years ago this was a sci-fi story. 60 years ago this was pure fantasy. 100 years ago nobody could have even conceived of the things we take for granted every day. Awesome.
And you missy....the only thing 'wrong' with you, is that you think there's something wrong with you. Knock it off. Leave your self doubt at the door girlie. What's the rush? Just let it roll mama~
