Has anybody tried dating websites, speed dating or events and adventures?

I am finding dating awkward and I am wondering if anybody has had any luck with the above mentioned methods of meeting people.

I tried one dating site, but my heart just wasn't in it. I guess I didn't really like it because most of the responses I got were comments about my looks, and not about what they thought about me as a person.

I've done the dating websites but there are no singles groups around here that I've found. Even the singles groups at churches are on the decline around here. However, I've never tried speed dating. I think I would like to try it but because this little town is too small, I'm deathly afraid that I'll run into someone that I know and don't want to be sitting across the little table from.

If your looking for groups like single parents, divorce supports, hiking groups etc try www.meetup.com and look in your local area

I've met some other single parents off of my local meetup group and we did activities from playing at the park, going to a museaum etc.

Yes, I have tried them all!!! I was a member on Events and Adventures and I will tell you that it is not worth it, it is a waste of money and REALLY expensive. If you want to try a free dating site I suggest that you go to "plentyoffish.com".

Hope you find this helpful!!

I tried match.com and actually dated 11 guys off there. One of them ended up being my boyfriend for a few months till he moved. I would not suggest online dating to anyone. Although it's real easy to meet people that way, theres no real life "connection" I had with any of them. Every profile said the same thing pretty much and the only real thing I had in common with any of them was the fact that we were both single.
It means so much more to me to meet a guy randomly while I'm doing day to day things or doing an activity I enjoy. It seems way more meaningfull to me.
Thats my two cents anyhow.
